What is a CSA?

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. When you join a CSA, you sign up to receive a regular share of food - typically vegetables, sometimes eggs, meat, flowers and even honey.

In Boulder County, a CSA is more than just a weekly box of food. It’s a way to build a relationship with the people who grow your food and to invest in our local food system at the start of the season, when farmers need it most. Your membership helps farms plan their crops, purchase seeds, cover early-season costs, and take care of the land.

In return, you get fresh, seasonal food grown close to home, often harvested just days (or hours) before pickup. You also share in the rhythm of the season - abundance in the summer, heartier produce in the spring and fall, and the satisfaction of eating what truly grows here.

A CSA is about trust, community, and connection: supporting local farmers, reducing food miles, and keeping our food dollars in Boulder County.

Why Join a CSA?

Its better for you and your family:

  • Better value for high-quality, nutrient-dense food compared to buying the same items individually at retail

  • A simple way to eat more locally sourced fruits and vegetables

  • A deeper connection to where your food comes from and who grows it and how it is grown

It champions our local farmers and makers:

  • Direct support that goes straight to the farmers who grow your food

  • Helps farmers cover upfront costs like seeds, labor, and equipment

  • Provides stability and shared risk so farmers are less vulnerable to crop loss from hail, weather, and other challenges

  • Strengthens small farms and helps keep them in our community year after year

Its the best for our planet and community

  • Supports farms that care for soil health, clean water, air quality, and pollinators

  • Fewer food miles means lower transportation emissions

  • Encourages farming practices that build resilience in a changing climate

  • Strengthens our local economy, dollars stay local
