Slow Food Boulder County Team

Our Team: Growing Community Through Real Food
In a fast-paced world, we’ve lost touch with where our food comes from — and the people who grow it.
Slow Food Boulder County is part of a global movement to change that. We support local, sustainable, and organic food, and believe that eating should nourish your body, support your community, and celebrate tradition.
Through shared meals, local connections, and hands-on learning, we help people slow down and rediscover the joy of real food.

As Co-President of the Sustainable Business Club at the University of Colorado, Leeds School of Business, she leads creative outreach and hands-on initiatives that earned the group gold-level Net Impact status. Her love for Slow Food deepened during her spring 2025 studies in Rome, where she explored food culture through a global lens. Through mentorship, marketing, and community action, Emily continues to grow as a thoughtful leader committed to impact, integrity, and delicious change.

Treasurer. Board Member since 2023.
Kelly Buenning
Originally from Missouri, Kelly Buenning has spent the past two decades engaging with local food systems across the U.S. — from working on farms to running farmers’ markets and teaching kids to garden. She’s been involved with Slow Food chapters in Wyoming and Kentucky, and is excited to continue that journey with Slow Food Boulder County. Now living in Niwot, Kelly co-owns Fritz Family Brewers with her husband and enjoys gardening, exploring Colorado, and chasing after her two young kids.

Events Chair. Board Member since 2024.
Kyle Wofford
Since moving to Boulder in 1997, Kyle has been passionate about healthy eating and supporting local food systems. He’s grateful to give back to the farmers and producers who’ve shaped his journey.
Outside of Slow Food, Kyle runs Hey Food, helping families reconnect with cooking. His biggest joy is being a dad — he and his son cook, explore the mountains, play soccer, and have traveled to all 50 states. Kyle believes sharing local producers’ stories is key to strengthening Boulder County’s food system.

Julie Quinn
Julie's Slow Food journey began in 2016 at Terra Madre in Turin, Italy, where a chance meeting with Alice Waters and Carlo Petrini sparked a lifelong commitment to good, clean, and fair food. From selling green beans at Pike Place Market to baking sourdough for neighbors, she has always found joy in growing, cooking, and sharing. After years of volunteering in Boise Idaho and now Louisville — from teaching life skills to supporting school gardens — Julie is inspired by the vibrant farms and food community across Boulder Valley. Julie joined Slow Food Boulder in 2024 and was thrilled to volunteer at the SF Denver fundraiser at Masa Seed Farm, connecting with chefs, members, and the land that feeds us.
Julie leads the Snail of Approval program for the Boulder County chapter.
