Supporting those who grow for us

Farmer Education Fund

Help us support Boulder County farmers

Good, clean, fair food starts with farmers who have every opportunity to grow. The Farmer Education Fund supports Boulder County growers in accessing the knowledge, skills, and networks they need to sustain our community's food system — for seasons to come.

The Farmer Education Fund helps our local growers access the training, workshops, and professional development they need to help grow their businesses and thrive.

By easing the cost of classes, conferences, and skill‑building opportunities, the fund strengthens our Boulder County food system and supports the farmers who nourish our community.

What is the fund?

Slow Food believes farmers should be able to access the knowledge, skills, and networks that keep good, clean, fair food growing in Colorado.

We created the Farmer Education Fund because the people who grow our food deserve every opportunity to keep learning, connecting, and strengthening their craft. Farming in Colorado is not easy! Our weather swings drastically, water scarcity is a major issue, and rising costs make it harder each year. Yet our Boulder County farmers continue to show up with resilience, curiosity, and a deep commitment to feeding our community.

The Farmer Education Fund will contribute to the cost of workshops, classes, and conferences that will help farmers learn, adapt and thrive. The cost of continuing education is often not in a farm's budget and Slow Food Boulder wants to help remove some of that barrier. It’s our way of investing back into the hands and minds that sustain the Boulder County food system

Our Partner

Walden Mutual Logo No Background.png

Walden Mutual is a new bank that is developing deeper connections between communities and the ecosystems that sustain them. They accept deposits from individuals, businesses, and non-profits who want to drive positive and lasting change with their dollars.

They lend those funds to impact-oriented organizations, with special focus on farms and food businesses. The word “mutual” in their name means cooperative; they are governed by their depositors, funded by those with a bias towards the long-term, and engineered to endure the test of time.

Building bridges is core to who they are, as they believe more interconnected and localized ecosystems support better community resilience and economic viability.

They recognize that, more often than not, someone who chooses to be a farmer or food entrepreneur is doing it for the love of the land or the art and science of producing food, and access to continuing education can be incredibly impactful to help these businesses thrive.
