Yesterday, under an unusual cloudy Colorado sky our community came together at Sunflower Farm, to celebrate the power of food, farms, and connection. Plant a Seed for Change brought together farmers, chefs, musicians, and neighbors to share in something simple yet profound — the joy of eating food that tells a story.

Chefs Who Nourished More Than Hunger
We were honored to have 5 incredible Snail of Approval Chefs join us, each donating their time and talent on a Sunday to create farm-inspired bites that celebrated the harvest. From small plates bursting with seasonal flavors to creative twists that highlighted local ingredients, each dish reminded us that food tastes better when it’s grown with care and prepared with love. What did they make?
Music, Drinks, and Celebration
With live music from John Shepard and Friends, filling the air and delicious drinks crafted by Palo Coffee and Bar to pair with the farm-fresh bites, the afternoon had a celebratory rhythm. Guests wandered between chef stations with plates in hand, smiles on faces, the kind of easy joy that only comes when food, drink, and music blend seamlessly into community.
Chefs with their amazing food!
Why It Matters
Beyond the flavors and festivities, Plant a Seed for Change was about something deeper. Events like this educate our community about where food comes from, inspiring shifts in how we shop, cook, and eat. Choosing local ingredients doesn’t just support farmers — it keeps money in our community, strengthens resilience, and helps preserve the land that feeds us. And when people can talk directly with farmers and chefs, it creates connections that leave a lasting impact.
We had a special guest, Amanda Fan from Boulder Colors. Her whole family stopped by to share their special water colors made from local produce scraps. This painting station was a hit with kids and parents, alike.
Winning Snails
It was hard to choose a winning bite. Attendees complained they needed to vote more than once, it was just too hard to pick a favorite. This was very true! In fact, we had a tie! 2 chefs earned 35 rocks (votes). And Jodie broke the tie by choosing the chef that had been a Snail of Approval longer, Blackbelly became a Snail of Approval in 2022 while Corrida became a Snail of Approval in 2025 (next year we will come up with a better strategy).

A Heartfelt Thank You
This event wouldn’t have been possible without the generosity of our chefs, the hospitality of the Sunflower Farm staff, the dedication of our Slow Food Boulder County team, and of course, the warmth of our community. Together, we planted more than seeds in the ground — we planted hope, awareness, and a vision for a more delicious, sustainable future.
Hope to see you on the farm again in 2026!
